Join the co-founders and authors of Hong Kong Shifts for a sneak peek behind the scenes as they share learnings from their project and the making of the book: Stories from the Streets of Hong Kong. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about their unique process of sourcing stories across all corners of Hong Kong, explore the storytelling techniques behind the beautifully crafted text and portraits, and hear heartwarming anecdotes of chance encounters made with strangers across the years. The authors, Cynthia and Maxime, will open up the floor for questions and discussion and be available to sign copies of the book.
Cynthia Cheng, Writer
Cynthia was born in Canada and grew up in Hong Kong, and went on to study law at University College London. She stayed in the UK to study and work for nearly a decade. Before pursuing a career in social impact and strategic communications, she was a practising lawyer in London and Hong Kong. Cynthia is a TEDx speaker, and her talk, The Surprising Power of Talking to Strangers, has gathered over 120K views to date. She is the co-founder and lead writer for Hong Kong Shifts and has always loved using words to capture the beauty and authenticity of human stories.
Maxime Vanhollebeke, Photographer
Originally from Belgium, Maxime lived in London and Chicago before settling in Hong Kong in 2009 to work as an international lawyer. He developed a passion for photography and was immediately drawn to the raw energy and beauty of Hong Kong and its people. As lead photographer and co-founder of Hong Kong Shifts, Maxime specialises in environmental portraits and street photography and is passionate about using photography to support and amplify positive social progress initiatives.

By attending this Event/ Workshop, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions outlined below. Your participation signifies your acceptance of these terms.
1. Liability Disclaimer: The organizers take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of participants. However, they are not liable for any personal injury, loss, or damage incurred during the event. By attending, you waive any claims against the organizers, their staff, and venue owners.
2. Non-Refundable Tickets: All tickets purchased are non-refundable. In the event of a cancellation or rescheduling, options will be determined at the discretion of the event host, subject to availability.
3. Weather-Related Cancellations: If a Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, or a Black Rainstorm Warning is issued, the event may be rescheduled or cancelled based on feasibility. Refund policies for such cancellations will be communicated in due course.
4. Product Collection: If your ticket includes a book or any product, you must collect it within one month of the event date. Failure to do so will result in the product being voided.
5. Code of Conduct: Attendees are expected to conduct themselves respectfully and courteously. 
6. Photography and Recording: Please be aware that photos and videos may be taken during the event for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please inform the host before the event begins.
7. Age Restrictions: Participants under the age of 18 must have parental consent to attend the event.
8. Email Sharing: Please note that email addresses may be shared with the event partner or host provider for communication purposes. If you do not wish for your email to be shared, please inform us before the event.
9. Amendments: The organizers reserve the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any significant changes before the event.
