Journey of My Soul
Rajni Ramanathan, a Sindhi by origin, was born in Tangiers and settled in Hong Kong for over 60 years. Multilingual, with fluency in Cantonese, she easily interweaves with the local community. She is married to a lawyer of South Indian origin, a marriage of love. A mother of four and a grandmother, she has worked as an English educator for many years. Rajni is a gifted culinary comforter who enjoys imbuing basic, out-of-the-box ingredients to feed her family and friends. This gave her tremendous joy and was her stress buster. Much as she would have liked to conjure a cookbook, it was infeasible as her magic lay in her fingers and not in the measurements. Rajni discovered her passion for poetry at a young age, where writing provided an outlet to express her inner thoughts and experiences. Poetry to Rajni was what kept her inner soul alive, where she saw a kinship to the outer world in a way that brought her great joy. She found the process of composing poetry a cathartic release. Over decades, she quietly penned poems highlighting personal milestones and reflections on life. Some of her work was published anonymously. Encouraged by family, Rajni decided to release Journey of My Soul—a collection representing the fulfilment of her lifelong love of the written word. The book stands as a testament to both her talent and perseverance in sharing her intimate poetic journey.
